This Sunday after the service, we will be holding our first ever members meeting! God has opened doors to some very exciting opportunities so we can’t wait to seek the Lord’s guidance together on these matters.
Lunch will be provided by D’Al’s Pizza.
This Sunday, we are so humbled to have the opportunity to worship with Bright City Church at their location (James Simons Elementary - 741 King St)!
We are so grateful for Bright City’s hospitality, as well as their commitment to seeing Christ made known on the upper peninsula and to the ends of the earth.
This is the first time we have had the opportunity to partner with another church in the neighborhood, and we can’t wait!!!!!
We will resume services as normal at the Citadel the following Sunday (February 24).
The vision statement of Uptown Church is "Until There is No Place Left in the Uptown and Greater Charleston Area Where the Gospel is Not Seen and Heard." The leadership at Uptown is looking forward to attending No Place Left's "Gospel Conversations Training" at Radiant Church this weekend. Below is a description of the event as well as a registration link.
9 out of 10 Christians struggle to share Jesus with those far from God. Do you?
If so join us as we identify and address some of the most common barriers that keep us from regularly sharing our faith. This training will equip attendees to engage those far from God by providing practical tools and practice. Attendees will grow competent and confident to start and transition conversations, share their story, and share God’s story. This training prioritizes reaching those that the attendees already know who are far from God but also trains them to engage new people and communities.
This training will last from 8:30 am - 12:30 pm.
Plus, if you are able and want to, there is an optional time in the afternoon to join some of the trainers for lunch and then go out and share the gospel with lost people in your community. We will plan to eat lunch until 1:30 pm, share the gospel for two hours and then debrief together until 4:00. This afternoon portion is optional, but so worth it if you can make it.
We are excited to see God working here in South Carolina and beyond until there is no place left!
How much does this event cost?
The event is FREE, it will simply cost your faithfulness, participation, and the time to come =)

God has been so gracious in guiding many authentically loving and servant-hearted people to Uptown. Shane and Nellie Cummings often serve behind the scenes in a variety of areas like Sunday morning set up and tear down, welcoming first time guests and cooking delicious food for our events.
And we are excited about the arrival of the newest addition to the Cummings household, Noah Shane, in just a few months! We would love for you to join us for their Uptown baby shower on March 9th as we celebrate Shane, Nellie and baby Noah 👶🏼 🍼♥️
To kick off our first 6 week missional community sprint in Wagener Terrace, Pastor Chris Blalock and Dorothy Blalock will be hosting a launch party in their home this Sunday from 4 - 5:30PM! 🍢🎉
If you live or work in or near Wagener Terrace, we’d love for you to drop by, eat food and get to know some of your neighbors.
We’re so excited to grow together and serve the Wagener Terrace community over the next 6 weeks!
This Thursday night, 2 of our awesome ministry leaders, Caleb and Hannah Melton, will be hosting a drop in to meet and thank Park Circle’s food and bev workers. If you live or work in/near Park Circle, be sure to drop by!
Despite Charleston's steeple filled skyline and esthetic beauty, our city is filled with spiritual brokenness. What does God plan to do about this immense lostness? How does He plan to reach those living in Charleston who are far from Him? The answer is simple. You are the plan. The Church is the plan.
The Church is the means by which God chooses to proclaim His Good News and display His invisible qualities to a lost and dying world. Do you want to see God's goodness and truth reign in Charleston? You have been chosen and equipped to serve with God on mission. Show and speak Christ to the people in your circles of influence, in the places where you live, work and play.
This Sunday, we will be holding our Missional Community launch service, and you definitely don't want to miss this event. Breakfast will be served at the start of the service.
10:30AM , 171 Moultrie St.
This Sunday, December 23, Uptown will not be meeting (we’d love to refer you to a church if you will be in town!)
On Christmas Eve, many of our families will be attending the 5PM service at First Baptist Charleston on 48 Meeting St.
On December 30th, we will be at First Baptist Charleston again for a joint service at 11AM.
And then we will return to the Citadel as normal on January 6th at 10:30AM for a super special service to kick off the new year!
This past Sunday was a very special Sunday for 3 reasons. The first of which is the fact that we celebrated with Live Oak Church, a new church plant who will be launching soon in John’s Island who we have the honor of supporting. Secondly, we received communion together for the first time as a church. Lastly, we took up the offerings for the Lottie Moon Christmas offering.
It’s easy to think that international missions is irrelevant to our lives, but nothing could be more untrue. We may not all be called to live among unreached and unengaged people groups but we are all called to bring the gospel to unreached and unengaged. In Matthew 28, Jesus commands us to “make disciples of all nations.” That call was for every Christian, and His Great Commission has not been completed.
We are the means by which God wants to bring the Good News to the world. So, if the international missionaries are willing to completely give up their comfort and proximity to family, we can make the financial sacrifice to keep these missionaries on the field so that the goodness of Christ can be made known to every man woman and child.
